For the fullest experience, we encourage 7 days at the yurts. Private groups of 6 can request fewer days if preferred. In all cases, your total trip length will be 3 days longer to accommodate transfers between Bishkek and our partner village.
If you’re traveling to Kyrgyzstan to ride, make the most of it! 7 days is the perfect amount of time to explore from our camp, and keep in mind that each week will essentially be 5 full + 2 half days riding. Day One will begin with a 6km/4mi tour from the village to the yurts, which takes most groups 2-3 hours (bags transported by “snowmohorses”). The program will be: hot lunch on arrival, verbal safety briefing, hands-on avalanche safety clinic, afternoon riding. On Day Seven, you’ll ride in the morning, and then slide back through camp for a hot lunch on your way back down to the village.
Our guided pricing includes airport pick up and drop off, private overland transfers to/from our partner village by way of Karakol (approx 440km/6.5 hrs each way), as well as guesthouse lodging for one night in Karakol and hotel lodging for one night in Bishkek after riding out from the yurts. Itineraries can be further customized to fit your needs—e.g. more days in Karakol and/or Bishkek, or exploring other parts of the country, as your schedule allows.

Optional Add-Ons
For the second year, we are offering a handful of exciting add-ons. The small additional cost for these unique experiences is passed directly to our village partners. It’s up to your group to decide of you’d like to opt in for any or all, but we do need everyone in the group to be on the same page (all interested) to make them happen.
HORSE RIDING
When in Kyrgyzstan…ride horses to the yurts! All of your gear will be portered by horses regardless, you just need to decide if you'd like to ride or tour. The distance is approximately 6km.

USD $40/PERSON
GROUPS OF 5:
USD $45/PERSON
HEADLESS GOAT POLO
Not for the fainthearted but definitely something you'll never forget! Casually described as headless goat polo, Kok Boru is a traditional Central Asian game where teams compete on horses, using a goat carcass as the “ball.” If you aren’t comfortable with a real goat slaughter, we can arrange a fake goat option.
PER GROUP (REAL GOAT):
USD $325
PER GROUP (FAKE GOAT):
USD $245
EAGLE HUNTING
On your way back to Bishkek at the end of the trip it’s possible to take the less-traveled route along the south shore of Lake Issyk-Kul and stop for a demonstration of traditional hunting methods with Berkutchi, Kyrgyzstan’s famous eagle hunters.
PER GROUP:
USD $165
The Jalpak Tash Yurts are available weekly or nightly with a 4 night minimum.
We provide self-guided groups with the same experience that we provide our guided groups: a private reservation of our yurt camp, staffed, with horses to porter your bags between the village and the yurts. Your stay will be fully-catered, which provides additional jobs for our local partners who shop, handle transport of provisions up to the yurts, and prepare each delicious meal. All of your frontcountry lodging and transport—from airport pick up to drop off—is arranged by us as well, ensuring your trip is as seamless as possible.
