Eric brings passion, creativity, and pure stoke to every day in the mountains. With more than 30 years of snowboarding experience and two decades of professional guiding experience, his enthusiasm for snow, adventure, and sharing wild places with others is absolutely infectious. In 2015, Eric became the first person to pass the American Mountain Guides Association Ski Guide Exam on a splitboard, earning recognition as the AMGA's first fully-accredited Splitboard Guide. He is also an AMGA Aspirant Alpine Guide, a Professional Member of the Canadian Avalanche Association, holds his American Avalanche Association Pro 3 certification, and maintains his Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. Before transitioning into large-scale heli-ski operations, Eric spent more than a decade building and operating successful splitboard-specific guiding programs throughout the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Cascade Volcanoes, and destinations across North and South America with his company, Splitboard Guides International. More recently, his guiding career has featured work with some of the best in the business, including Eagle Pass Heli, Baldface Lodge, Eleven Experience, and Third Edge Heli. In 2025, Eric launched Layton Guiding, a mountain guiding platform that bridges the worlds of human-powered exploration and mechanized riding. Whether guiding from a helicopter, skin track, or alpine ridge, Eric's goal remains simple: create safe, memorable experiences that inspire a deeper connection to the mountains and the people who share them. For Eric, the best days are still the ones spent chasing snow with good people in far out places. After a two year pause, we are stoked to have Eric back as part of the dream team leading our Chile expeditions.
