Aaron Chance (aka “Chancey”) is a native of British Columbia, Canada and has made Revelstoke his home for the past 15 years. Aaron first worked as a ski patroller in the East Kootenays before being drawn to the epic ski touring and mountaineering mecca of Rogers Pass, with its unreal access to big, glaciated terrain. A decade and a half of exploring the Columbia Range, with trips to the St. Elias and Swiss, Italian and French Alps honed his skills for the challenge of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides Ski Guide Program, which he completed on a snowboard but also certified on skis. He has been working in the guiding industry for 10 years—heli skiing with Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing and ski touring with CAPOW, the Blanket Glacier Chalet, and Whitecap Alpine in the Selkirk, Monashee and Coast Ranges. Aaron is a professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association and instructs avalanche courses according to their curriculum. He also delivers glacier travel and crevasse rescue trainings and has held his Occupational First Aid Level III certification for 20+ years. There is always more to learn though! He’s found nothing he likes more than the challenge of safe travel in the mountains with the payoff of laying a track down a sweet mountainside in good snow conditions. Aaron loves being out in the hills with good folks, sharing his knowledge and experience amidst the beauty and wonder of the mountain environment. Aaron spends his off seasons working as a finish carpenter, specializing in timber frame structures and solid wood furniture. When there is no powder to shred, you’ll find him shredding the brown pow on his mountain bike, spending as much time as possible outside with his family, and canoeing on the lakes and rivers of Western Canada.
