TY MILLS

LEAD GUIDE (GREENLAND, TY’S BACKYARD)

FROM: BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

SOCIAL: @TYMILLS

Ty is one of the first guides to be fully accredited by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides on a splitboard. He has called the mountain town of Golden, British Columbia, Canada home for the last 24 years, and has been guiding for heli/cat skiing and ski lodge operations—including Eagle Pass Heliskiing, Whitecap Alpine, and Baldface Lodge—for the last 17. Above all things, Ty loves to play in the mountains, whether laying down lazy powder turns, bootpacking up a couloir, setting a skin track or shredding down a steep face. Ty also runs his own private guide service based out of Golden, All Aspects Alpine, and has worked as an avalanche forecaster and avalanche course instructor for the Canadian Avalanche Association. He is also a Level III First Aider. Driven by a love of nature and passion for splitboard mountaineering, he has developed a healthy respect for the mountains and depth of experience from years of adventures and working in the backcountry industry. Having spent time in the Himalaya, the Alps and remote ranges of British Columbia, he is a perfect fit for 40 Tribes. Ty is known for his laid back style, wicked sense of humor and just the right amount of serious when needed. His commitment to the guest experience results in happy, fulfilled clients and lifelong friends. When it’s finally time to put the ski gear away for the season, Ty can be found gardening, mountain biking and fly fishing. Ty is the mastermind behind our Ty’s Backyard expedition (duh!!) and will return for the 3rd consecutive year in 2024 to lead guide our Greenland expeditions.
