Custom Designed Ski & Splitboard Tours
94% mountainous and largely undeveloped, Kyrgyzstan has endless backcountry options. Access is easy via many of the country’s +3,000m mountain passes, and easier yet via the 40 Tribes yurts (as pictured above). If you want custom, we’re ready to pull out the maps and get to work helping you design your perfect itinerary.
Pick a month! We are happy to discuss options for the mid-winter months, basecamp-style expeditions or traverses in the spring, or tours to the high peaks and glaciers in the summer.
Yurt-Based Tours: We can arrange guided stays at the Jalpak Tash Yurts for as many days as you’d like, and can incorporate educational components related to avalanche safety, splitboarding, ski/snowboard mountaineering, etc.
Tent-Based Expeditions And Traverses: There are 88 major mountain ranges in Kyrgyzstan. We have plenty of recommendations for exploratory tours and traverses in the more accessible Terskey Ala-Too, Kyrgyz Ala-Too, and Suusamyr Too ranges, or can assist with more logistically complicated expeditions to other ranges/peaks.
Combination Yurt + Tent-Based Tours: Ski pow and enjoy the luxuries of the Jalpak Tash Yurts, then head deeper into the zone and set up camp at the base of bigger/more technical lines that are hard to reach in day tours from the yurts.
Shepherds’ Hut Tours: Arslanbob is an Uzbek village at the foot of the +4,400m Babash-Ata Mountains in southern Kyrgyzstan. Instead of yurts, local shepherds have built permanent huts in the high mountain pastures above the village. Come February the huts are typically buried under a few meters of snow. With a little shovel work they make cozy mountain retreats and provide access to some spectacular terrain. (More about Arslanbob)
Multi-Day Tours In Ala Archa National Park: Ala Archa National Park in the Kyrgyz Ala-Too Range just south of Bishkek is the location of a few former ski areas and is one of the country’s major mountaineering and climbing destinations. Abandoned huts built deep in the mountains by Soviet climbers offer unique lodging options right at the foot of glaciated +4,500m peaks.
